GP Strategy Evening

NAB Place, Mezzanine Level, 2 Carrington St, Sydney

An intimate evening bringing together general practitioners, practice managers, and industry partners to explore the future of primary care in Australia.

Hosted in partnership with Medfin, Findex, and NAB, the GP Strategy Evening offered candid discussion on practice growth, succession planning, and the evolving landscape of healthcare delivery.

The evening opened with a keynote on the shifting economics of general practice — from bulk-billing pressures to the opportunities emerging in allied health integration and digital-first patient engagement.

Panellists from Medfin and Findex shared practical frameworks for practice valuation, acquisition financing, and tax-efficient structuring that resonated deeply with GPs at various stages of their career.

What stood out was the candour of the conversation. Questions from the floor moved quickly past surface-level topics into the real challenges: workforce retention, after-hours coverage models, and the tension between clinical autonomy and group-practice scale.

The most valuable part was hearing directly from GPs who have already navigated a practice acquisition — the real numbers, the real timeline, the things no one tells you.

— Attendee feedback

NAB's healthcare banking team closed with a session on capital planning — helping attendees understand what lenders look for when financing practice acquisitions or fit-outs, and how to position for growth without over-leveraging.

A sincere thank you to everyone who joined us. These evenings exist because of the generosity of our partners and the willingness of our community to share openly. We look forward to the next chapter.
